Well, this is it, my first post from the road. . .
I’m in northwest Montana spending some time with family in the booming town of Somers (population: about 600).
If you haven’t been to northwest Montana, it’s worth checking out. Somers (near Kalispell) is close to Glacier National Park as well as acres and acres of National Forest - perfect for hiking. And the Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. It's a beautiful outdoor summer destination! I’ve been coming here for years but I haven’t been here in the winter since I was 4 -- it’s totally different but just as beautiful when it’s all covered with snow.

Of course, the snow (and the cold) limit my hiking and the swimming. Instead, I’ve been strapping on my boots and walking down the bike path to the post office.
I’m also planning to do some skiing to see what Montana skiing is all about.
I need to get my fill of winter - in two weeks, I’ll be spending summer in Patagonia! More to come from Chile. . .
